Kamala Harris Approval Ratings At Historic Lows

Kamala Harris' Approval Ratings at Historic Lows

Favorability Index in Decline

Poll Shows Majority of Americans Hold Unfavorable Opinion

Vice President Kamala Harris' approval ratings have plummeted to record lows, with a recent poll indicating that only 39% of registered voters have a favorable opinion of her, while 55% have an unfavorable opinion.

This net rating of -16 percentage points is a significant drop from November 2023, when Harris' approval rating stood at 44%. The decline in her popularity comes amidst increasing criticism of her handling of various issues, including the immigration crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border.

According to a November survey by USA Today, Harris' public approval rating sat at 28%, making her one of the least popular vice presidents in recent history. The poll also found that her favorability index, which measures the difference between those who view her favorably and unfavorably, is at -12 percentage points.

Harriss ratings far outpace those of Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is seen positively by a median of 18% of adults, and Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has an approval rating of just 10%. This suggests that Harris' unpopularity is not driven by partisan politics but reflects a widespread disapproval of her performance as vice president.

The decline in Harris' approval ratings is a troubling sign for the Biden administration, which has been grappling with a series of challenges, including rising inflation, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and the war in Ukraine. Harris' low approval ratings could impact the administration's agenda and make it more difficult for Biden to pass legislation or implement his policies.
